Theo Doris Burgan

She was born on December 28, 1941, in Oldham County, Kentucky to the late John and Vivian (Truman) Smith.

Theo enjoyed camping at Happy Hallow in Carrollton and fishing with her husband. A talented seamstress, she made clothes for her children as they grew up. Reading was another passion of Theo's, and she was happiest when surrounded by family, feeding them her famous chocolate pie or homemade chicken and dumplings.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Bennie L Burgan Sr., children, Christopher Lawrence Burgan, Bennie L. Burgan Jr., and Kathy Burgan; grandson, Christopher Lawrence Burgan; parents, John and Kate Smith and Vivian and Jack Callis; and siblings, Thelma Barnett (Obey), Johnny Smith (Ruby), and DeeDee Burgan.

Left to cherish the memory of Theo are her children, Gene Burgan (Buffy), Brenda Kimberlin (Tom), and Keith Burgan; 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, brother, Coleman Smith (Paula); brother-in-law, Charles Burgan; extended family, and friends.

A celebration of Theo's life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 706 W Jefferson St, LaGrange, KY 40031 at 1pm with burial to follow in Valley of Rest Cemetery in LaGrange. A time of gathering will be from 11am until the start of the service at the funeral home.
