Thomas Daniel (Dan) Trent, Jr, 78, passed away on Monday, May 24th in LaGrange KY. He was born to the late Thomas and Bette Anita (Algeo Nellis) Trent in Owensboro, KY. He was a graduate of Breckinridge County High School and played basketball at Campbellsville University where he met his wife Neva Griffin. He began his career as teacher and basketball coach in McCreary County (Pine Knot), KY and later coached at Casey County High School before moving back “home” to teach and coach in Breckinridge County. He was principal of Ben Johnson Elementary School, one of his favorite jobs, and finished his career in education as assistant superintendent of Breckinridge County Schools. He later became a realtor in Oldham County. Dan was highly regarded throughout his life for his work ethic and integrity.
An avid golfer, he was a member of Oldham County Country Club where he won many titles and tournaments in retirement. He greatly enjoyed introducing his three grandchildren to the sport. He ends a life well-lived with many good friends and a devoted family who will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Neva, daughters Dana (Mike) Sebastian of Parker, CO and Susan (Chris) Meredith of La Grange, KY. Dan was especially proud of his grandchildren Kallen Sebastian, Trent Sebastian and Ben Meredith.
Services will be held at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home in LaGrange KY on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 6pm with memorial visitation from 2pm until the start of the service.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Dan’s memory to St Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Wounded Warriors Project.
