Ann Possert Kilbane was born on May 28, 1938, in the former country of Yugoslavia, now Serbia, to her loving parents, Mathew and Theresa. She grew up alongside her younger sister, Erna, in a small town where life was full of joy until World War II changed everything.
For their safety, the family fled their home, never to return, and sought refuge in Austria. Life was difficult, but dreams of building a new life in America began to take shape.
In 1947, the family embarked across the Atlantic, arriving in New York City. They settled in Cleveland, Ohio and it was there that Ann met Kevin, at a high school dance. They were married in 1960 and welcomed three children Kevin, Denise, and Laura in just three years. Those early years were busy and demanding, especially with Kevin often away pursuing his education and building his career. Yet Ann never shied away from hard work, making even the most challenging days look effortless. The family moved often, and wherever they landed, Ann formed deep, lasting friendships she cherished for life.
Upon retirement, Ann and Kevin moved to Austin, Texas, where she thrived as a grandmother to Brynn, Thea, Logan, Alexa, and Jake, always cheering them on and hosting family gatherings.
Ann was the epitome of a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, smart, kind, steady, and dependable. She instilled in her children the values of family, integrity, and respect. Even in her final years, as memory and recognition faded, her warm smile remained, revealing who she truly was at her core: a woman everyone loved.
Ann is reunited with her beloved husband, Kevin, after only seven weeks since his passing. They were never not meant to be together.
The love Ann gave lives on in the lives she touched and the family she nurtured.
A celebration of life for Ann will take place on September 1, 2025 from 4-6 pm at the family home.
