Betsy Buell Hitt, age 75, died Thursday, May 27, 2010 in her home in The Hills, Texas, after a two year courageous struggle with cancer. She was born December 17, 1934 in Chicago, the daughter of James Wallace and Mary Gurler Buell. She graduated from Arizona University and worked in Chicago until she met her husband, Peter, and married in 1959. After raising two successful children in Wilmette, Illinois, in 1985, she and her husband moved to Plano, Texas where she took up golf and continued to enjoy a game of tennis. She loved to travel and wasn't satisfied until she had been to six of the seven continents. Her final move was in 1999 to The Hills where she continued her golf and tennis and served on the Architectural Committee of the Hills POA. Many thanks go to all of her loyal friends for their support in the last days of her life, a support that will not be forgotten by her surviving family. She is survived by her husband, Peter, sons David and Jeffrey and three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alex and Katie. Near the end, she attended the Lakeway Church and prayed every day for not only herself, but everyone around her. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis Chapel, with a reception to follow in the Hospitality Room.
