Bonnie was born on September 2, 1929 in Tyrone, Oklahoma to Jim and Vesta Hopson. In November 1942, she moved with her family from Oklahoma to Yuma, Arizona. She married Samuel E. Phillips in July 1951 and they were married 47 years before his death in 1998. In December 1987, Bonnie retired from the Arizona Department of Economic Security with 28 years of service.
She was a loving and caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Patricia Nichols of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Eric Nichols and Jamie Nichols Blochowiak of Chandler, Arizona; and one sister, Fern Drysdale of Yuma, Arizona.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Maxine Blankenship, Nadine Weems; and two brothers, Arthur Lee Hopson and Jimmy Paul Hopson.
A memorial service in Lakeway, Texas will be held at a later date.
