Chris graduated from MacArthur HS in Irving, TX where he excelled in sports, playing baseball, football and basketball. He then graduated from Texas A&M University, class of 1990, with a degree in Business Management.

He particularly enjoyed spending time at his family ranch and summer trips to Colorado with his family where he loved to fly fish.

Chris was a loving son, husband and father and he was incredibly proud of his children. Chris was kind, generous with his time, and always willing to help others. He served as a mentor to his crew at the fire department and was loved by his first responder family. Chris was a member of Emmaus Catholic Parish in Lakeway, TX.

Chris and Jen are two of the kindest people I have ever met. We worked together at Sabredata. I later connected with them in Lakeway at Serene Hills Elementary. I would frequently see Chris at the school and he was always so upbeat and just a pleasant person to be around. Chris will be missed!

I know Chris through the stories his mother Ruthie tells about her beloved son. She and Jay were in the process of moving to Austin just to spend more time with him. That speaks more than anything about how loved he was by them and how safe he made them feel. Chris comes from honor and displayed that honor throughout his life. In deepest sympathy to his family. I had the honor of working with Chris this past year out on a ranch in Round Mountain and I will just say that never have I met such a hard working, honest & loyal person as Chris. He took such pride in everything he did. I will never forget how he would go out of his way to be helpful and to make things easier for me. I considered him a true friend and will miss him so very much.

We had a special bond with Chris. Living in Irving TX, our home was a gathering place in their high school days for “The Gang” — Chris, Chris W., David S., Scott A. , Paul M. , our two sons: Robert &Mark. Our swimming pool seemingly had some, or all, of this band of fun-loving and mutual-close buddies in it at any given time. We often reminded ourselves Chris was not really our son. Anyone around him would be simply happier just being around this special young man. He will continue to be a role model legacy for his son and daughter.

I have known and admired Chris from afar. He comes from such a fine family and was all that one could hope for in a son. He comes from a great tradition of generosity and service. He served as one of our finest. The world will be a little less bright because of his absence. I hold the entire Askew family in my heart.

Chris and I drove to see the Grand Canyon during my visit to Arizona many years ago. He was the greatest friend a man could ever hope for.
