So much time has passed since we lost you but you and your memory are constant.   I often think back to a shy young lady that wanted to join NJHS in middle school, but needed help coming up with reasons she deserved to apply.  After about 30 min, our whiteboard was loaded with reasons for you to pick from.    That was the beginning.  Over the next 2 years I saw your confidence grow,  and with that your voice.  In AVID tutorials you went from a shy participant to a leader with periodic sass!  As I began to get to know you more I saw endless possibilities in your future.  When you shared in time that you wanted to be a photographer I remember saying "Danielle  you can be anything you want to be!"  I didn't get it.      But once you went to your photography camp and later shared your catalog of photos.... I finally got it.  You were an old soul that had no issues with working hard.... but you knew who you were and what made you happy.  What a gift you had with a camera and how you were able to make each photo come to life with your beautiful narrative.  Your photo-journal is such a priceless gift you left us... a way to see you, understand  the beautiful young lady you were becoming, celebrate what was beautiful to you and see the world through your eyes.  Danielle, you were an amazing young lady.  In the small amount of time I was gifted with you in my life, I learned so much from you.  You reminded me to always "do you" (and never waste a moment being anyone else), never walk away from a challenge, follow your passion, surround yourself with good people and be kind.  You knew so much in your young life and I struggle to accept you weren't able to finish your journey.  Danielle I KNOW you were destined to do incredible things... and I know you are doing them in heaven now (even if we can't see it here on earth). I miss her so much. It's not the same without her. Love like dani



She was my student, at SRE, and my neighbor. Sometimes, we are so preoccupied with the kidswe feel are needier, and we just know that those that are quieter, who exel, and who always have a kind word for everyone, are going to be ok. Then, something jolts that idea, and we decide we are going to pay a bit more attention. When Dani died, she changed my paradigm, and made me pay attention more, just as her camera gave attention to all around her. Just the other day, I came across the "Love like Dani" sticker. I had kept it on my school bulletin board. I wondered if it were time for me to put it away. The notification of her anniversary tells me  the answer is no. It remains my reminder to "Love like Dani" and see the world through a wider lens.



I remember that we had dance class together. I loved her in my class. I would help her with the dance that we were doing in class and well now I still think of her. She was so sweet, her pictures she take are amazing, and she was very smart. She gave me hugs when I needed them. She was the best friend that I had. 



Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy. 
I miss you so much Danielle. I remember in dance class, we always stretched and we always talked to each other. Whenever you see me sad, you'll always cheer me up. You're always in my heart. I will always remember you.
