Delois Mogonye

Born on August 31, 1944, in Luling, Texas, to Clifton Schutz and Theresa Karnstadt, Delois was an artist and designer by trade, but her greatest masterpiece was the life she created for those she loved.

She was married to Jerry Mogonye, and together they raised two sons, Michael Mogonye and Gregory Mogonye. She welcomed her daughters-in-law, Joslyn Mogonye and Jennifer Mogonye, into the family and treasured her role as “Mimi” to her four grandchildren: Mason Mogonye, Jaden Mogonye, Henry Mogonye, and Chloe Mogonye.

Delois had a special gift for making a house feel like home. She believed every meal was worth gathering around a beautifully set dining room table, where conversations were shared, memories were made, and everyone knew they belonged. She had a creative spirit and was especially known for crafting her beloved Santas, each one reflecting the care and imagination she poured into everything she made.

Her heart was just as big for animals as it was for people. Over the years she opened her home to countless dogs, many of them rescues, giving each one the love, comfort, and second chance they deserved.

More than anything, Delois was devoted to her family. She showed her love through everyday acts of kindness, unwavering support, and simply always being there. Her bond with her grandchildren was extraordinary, and the love they shared will remain one of her family’s greatest blessings.

While her absence leaves an immeasurable hole in the hearts of those who loved her, they find comfort in the memories she created, the traditions she passed down, and the example she set of generosity, creativity, compassion, and unconditional love.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to Lone Star Dog Ranch in Anna, Texas.
