Born on January 1, 1953, in Portland, Oregon, Esther was the daughter of Thelma and Albert Fullmer. She spent her early years in Portland, the Bay Area of California, and New Market, Maryland, before making her home in Austin, Texas, where she built a life filled with love, family, friendships, and service to others.
Esther attended Portland Christian School and was known for her generous spirit and compassionate heart. She dedicated much of her life to serving her community, particularly through her involvement with organizations supporting children and families. She was recognized by the City of Austin for her dedication to Austin Community Services, a reflection of her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
Throughout her life, Esther was actively involved in numerous charitable and community organizations, including the German Free School of Austin, Austin City Connections, Destination Imagination, and Austin Community College. She generously shared her time and talents, always finding ways to give back to the community she called home.
Esther had a creative spirit and found great joy in arts and crafts and playing the piano. She also had a special love for animals, particularly horses, and was especially fond of her little Dachshund, Freya. Her love for animals and her many interests brought her happiness throughout her life.
At the heart of Esther's life was her family. Her husband, Edmund (Ed), was the love of her life for 59 years, and the bond they shared was a beautiful testament to enduring love and devotion. Esther also treasured her role as a grandmother. Affectionately known as "Oma" to her grandchildren, she held a special place in their hearts and cherished the memories they created together.
Whether through her service to the community, her love of music and animals, or the care she showed her family, Esther touched many lives and leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and compassion.
Esther is survived by her loving husband, Ed Crump; her children, Sharon L. Byrne (Crump), Gerald R. Crump, and Brian A. Crump; her grandchildren, Sean Byrne, Ryan Byrne, Brett Crump, Dutch Crump, Heather Crump and Cambelle Crump. Passed before her, are her siblings, Marilyn Norton, Mary Hefner (Fullmer), and David Fullmer. She leaves behind extended family members, dear friends, and all those whose lives were enriched by her presence.
A private service will be held, with details to be announced by the family. Please email Ed for any details or questions: [email protected]
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Esther's honor to Austin Pets Alive!, an organization reflecting her love and compassion for animals.
