Goray was my colleague at DTE Engineering Support Organization also an Electrical  Engineer with a Masters degree in EE like me. During our time there we worked on some common projects in ESO (EE/I&C). He had joined before me and was very helpful and co-operative in working with me,
 I was sorry to hear the sad news of Goray's passing -too soon!

“Boromama” as we call him in a Bengali term “Boro” means eldest and “Mama” is an uncle from mother side. As a big son from the Hemango's (Gouranga’s dad) family, he has been well respected by all of the family members. Hemango “Dadu”(granddad), Prativa “Dida” (grandma)  , three sisters and one brother showed their fondness towards their Big “DADA” "SON"and Gauranga mama returned every pinch of fondness to them. It is remarkable to see siblings bonding as deep as the pacific ocean. Better late than never, I am late to show my respect due to the past 10 days ( coming back from India)  was suffering with mental and physical sickness therefore Jyotirmoyda (my husband) hadn't shared with me the news until 2 days ago. I felt sad to see my Mom Gouri (Gauranga’s eldest sister) deteriorating so fast, who was so strong just a few years back. In addition I haven’t taken the news of Masomosi (Krishna Mashi’s husband, Gauranga’s 2nd sister) death mentally well, it was very sad for me and now Boromama. We share the same birth month, day of the week, astrologically we are very similar and think alike. I love the way he gave back to his family and friends to tell who he was. Gouranga Mama was a true, exemplary,  of how genuine human beings look like. I tried to be like him everyday. It was a very big loss in our family. One thing for sure he finished all his duties and enjoyed his life the fullest with his loving family (“Maima” Mama’s wife, Neil/Jeet brother, daughter-in-law, grand-daughter). We should celebrate his accomplishments and milestones. We are all heart broken and sad to hear this. Brother Neil/Jeet stay strong and always remember how lucky you were to have a father like Gauranga Mama. I am sure you feel the same way. Let us know if we can help in any way, remember we are still here as your cousin sister, so don’t hesitate to reach us. Take care.

I remember visiting my uncle (Jethu)’s house when I lived in Troy, Michigan as a little kid. We would spend so much time together, one of my favorite memories is going to Arby’s in the mornings to get an apple pie, and playing with him and my aunt (Jethi). He would always make me laugh, calling me his Maharaj and celebrating every little achievement I had as if it were his own. Beyond the laughter, he taught me valuable lessons about the importance of hard work and constantly striving to grow and better myself. His love, warmth, and guidance will always stay with me.

May his soul rest in peace.

Gauranga, my dearest dada  was a mentor, a guide and constant source of inspiration. He was a candle who enlightened our whole family. I will remeber his loving, affectionate voice all the time. I will miss his calls and continuous concerns for me.  Till now l cannot believe he is no more. 
I pray for His soul to rest in peace.

Gaurangada was my cousin brother in law. We are indebted to him in so many ways and will miss him dearly.
New in USA, with my parents in India,  Gaurangada and his wife, Kalpana Boudi welcomed me with open arms and treated me like a daughter. In my early years in Michigan, as I faced challenges of  Medical residency application and managing a 4 yr old, Gaurangada's  insightful and valuable  career advice and Kalpana boudi's support helped to navigate the difficulties and start my US career in Medicine.
Gaurangada's vibrant, joyful, loving personality  lit up our weekends in Troy. His infectious smile  calling for 'Maharaj' ( his nickname for our 4 yr old son ),with a booming voice , was a joyful sight. In minutes he would transform from a serious talented engineer into a fun loving friend running around and playing with 'Maharaj' oblivious of his age.I will always cherish the weekend dinners and loving memories at their Troy home . He had such a warm , loving personality and wide range of interest and knowledge. 
But his uniqueness was in his spontaneous, heartfelt , sincere effort to help anyone with their problem. He had extensive knowledge of community resources and  resources in educational career advice.He would treat another  person's issue as his own problem and make every effort to find a solution. 
I remember the evening when my elderly parents, who were visiting me  in Michigan , incidentally mentioned that they were worried about missing the connecting flight back to India at the vast Chicago O'Hare airport as they had never travelled abroad.Immediately, it became his problem and he didn't rest till he had called and arranged the airlines to have wheelchairs to transfer them between flights. He relieved their anxiety and they were forever grateful to him. 
This was Gaurangada , always ready to help. 


May his pure soul rest in eternal peace in the highest echelon of heaven.

Gouranga Mookerjee was my mother’s elder brother whom we (me and other nephews and nieces) used to call “Baramama”. He was much more than just an uncle to all of us—he was a mentor, a role model and a constant source of inspiration to us. He enormously helped many of us to build our career. His kindness left an indelible mark on everyone he met. His laughter could fill a room. He demonstrated exemplary behavior, generosity, inspiring leadership and complete positivity in his personal and professional life. 

Though he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the lessons he taught us and the love he shared so freely. We will carry his memory in our heart forever, strive to honor him by living a life as full and meaningful as the one he led. 

We will all truly miss you very much "BARAMAMA"! May you rest in eternal peace!

Down the Memory Lane...
(nostalgia can't b summed up in 2 lines)

1994
He visited his native place after a decade. He was on a solo official trip. I, his niece just completed the boards was entrusted to takecare of his belongings. Before this we had hardly communicated beyond Bijoya 2 liners in letters. It was an ice-breaking one. So I was secretary to my maternal uncle during his 2 months stay. Eventually we became friends by the end of this period. We could now share and debate anything on Earth. I was amazed to have such a witty, intelligent, cheerful Mama(uncle). I was amazed to see the amount of empathy he had! He gave me a new nickname: ChoopSingh.
I discovered his favourite singers being Geeta Dutt and Hemanta. So we would end up Twisting on "Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu" or " Hai Apna Dil to Awara"
A new bond was made, forever: MamaBhagni 💝

2003
He shared his wish for my higher studies and settling abroad. While I shared my secret to marry and settle back here. We had nights long debates Career Vs Marriage; Abroad Vs Homebound etc. Eventually, like any fatherly heart he melted on my wish, and agreed. You name a problem, he will suggest a solution.
He made "longdistance relationship" look real, heartiest and closest.  With every phase of my life he encouraged, motivated and supported.💝

2025
On 5th October we spoke on vdo-call. I was leaving the city that day. He was worried. He was concerned of my Baba's knee problem; how ma will manage alone; what is cooking for lunch, special menu for Jamai etc etc .. He burst into laughter to see Jamai loosing hair like him...like always.. we pulled each other's leg... little we knew....we were joking for the last time!....little we knew.. we were talking for the last time...forever.... 🥺🥲😭

We are deeply sorry for your immense loss. At the same time, we are in shock too. 

Inspite of miles of ocean between our geographical location, he stayed closest to our heart always. He  played a pivotal role in each of our lives in various way. A very precious soul💝

All through his journey he was a strong, focussed, intelligent person who enlightened us through his guidance, suggestions, support and affection. His wit, heartiest laughter and spark in eyes could induce positive vibes.♥️

We shared a loving bond in each role he played. A very caring big brother to a sister, a guardian to a brother in law, a guiding star for a niece, a 'my dear' inlaw for a son in law. His affection will be missed dearly💙

Neil, Jit,  so sorry to hear about your dad's passing.  I recall your father as a proud, funny and extremely hard-working individual.  I was just in our old neighborhood in Troy for the first time in over 20 years and was reminiscing about our youth growing up all so close together and how it was such a rich diversity of people and cultures on one street.  I'm sure your parents are both pleased seeing the men  that you have grown into.

Gourangoda as we called him was a big part of the Bengali community in Michigan. My late husband Sibu also worked for Detroit Edison and Gourangoda was always willing to help with advice and other support when Sibu was sick with Leukemia.

I fondly remember Dada and Kalpanadi who welcomed us to the community when we first arrived in Michigan.
