The family of Glen Lee Screws share with friends and loved ones that Glen went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the age of 68 years old after courageously battling cancer over the past year. A resident of Spicewood, Texas, Glen had attained a highly respected standing in the community as a Custom Homebuilder and Real estate developer. He attended the Church of Life Austin.
Glen is sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family which includes his wife Leigh Anne Crenwelge; daughter, Haley Dabney and husband, Shane; Son, Drake Screws; grandchildren, Emma Dabney, Colt Dabney, Bella Stevens, Jedidiah Stevens; and his brother Danny Screws and sister Dinah Ball, and Lucy Leggott, the mother of Drake and Haley. He is also survived by his dogs, Hannah and Rico. His Father Clint Screws, Mother Juanita Screws, and Brother Clinton Screws preceded Glen in passing and will be reunited.
Glen was born in Houston, Texas on July 10, 1956, to Clint and Juanita Screws. After attending McLennan College in Waco, Texas, he founded Glen Screws Construction in Waco, Texas in 1982 beginning a four-decade legacy of over 500 custom projects which included Custom homes, residential subdivisions, retirement centers, commercial projects and ancillary developments. Glen was recognized as the first Certified Green Builder in Austin, Texas, and the exceptional quality of his work was acknowledged through prestigious awards bestowed by the National Luxury Home Builders Association and the Texas Home Builders Association.
Beyond an exceedingly successful career, Glen’s family happily remembers him for his vivacious and charismatic personality, which could light up a room. While being driven in his business endeavors, the family saw Glen’s life-of-the-party sense of humor and his one-of-a-kind sense of caring, the type that would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. His entrepreneurial spirit was further exhibited by joining with his son, Drake, in founding La Caza Spirits, a growing and successful distributor of its proprietary brand of Tequila.
Glen particularly loved being outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing, or golfing or just spending time with family and friends at one of the several ranches he owned in south Texas over the years. Those memories are particularly precious to his family as they remember and celebrate Glen’s life, love, and contributions.
The family would like to thank all of Glen’s Waco and Austin Friends for their unwavering support and love this last year. It truly gave him strength and meant the world to him.
A celebration of life for Glen will take place on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Ranch Austin, 10313 Circle Drive, Austin, TX 78736.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to one of the following foundations in memory of Glen Screws: CC4C, Central Texas SPCA, American Cancer Society.
