

Gwendolyn Kay Scott, age 71, of The Hills, Texas, retired administrative manager in the petroleum industry for 37 years, worked in an interior design firm and in financial management businesses, went to be with her Lord on October 27. She had been in the hospital, Oncology section, where she passed away of stage 4 lung cancer, holding her loving husband John's hand.
Gwen was born September 24, 1945, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, to Rhinehardt Ernest (Rhinie) and Edith Beth (Beth) Wagner. She attended Broken Arrow High School, Northeastern State College, Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and worked for Cities Service Petroleum, Phillips Petroleum, an interior design and two Investment management firms. She lived in Broken Arrow, Tulsa, and Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Denver, Colorado, Houston and The Hills, Texas.
Gwen was elected "Dairy Princess" of Oklahoma in 1963 and was in the national competition in 1964. She grew up in the Lutheran Church, joined Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church in Houston and has been a member of The Lakeway Church, Lakeway, Texas, where she and husband, John, sang in the Sanctuary Choir.
She loved beautiful flowers and devoted much of her day to cultivating them. She was a member of a Houston book club, the Lakeway Women's Club, the Garden Club and the Austin, Texas Mayfair Dance Club where she served on the Board of Directors and as President.
She is survived by her husband, John, of almost 5 years, a son, Matt Lawrence, wife Beth and granddaughter Meagan Stachurski; brother Ben Wagner and wife Deborah; sister Renee and husband Bill Farrell; four nieces and three nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Gary Wagner and his wife Karen.
She blessed all with whom she came in contact with her faith and loving spirit.
A memorial service will be conducted by her Pastor, Larry Coulter, at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 5 at the Lakeway Church. Donations to The Lakeway Church Foundation Building Fund are encouraged in lieu of flowers.
