Jack Davis was called Home to be with Jesus on June 30, 2016. A true servant of God, he faithfully served his family as a beloved husband to Betty Helen and loving father to Gary Edward, Angela Rhea, and Christopher Matthew.
Born in Liberty, Texas on October 5, 1941, Jack was the fourth child of Travis and Velma Davis and brother to Luisa, Lewis, Juanita, Mary and Will. The Davis family grew up in Alvin, Texas.
Jack met the love of his life, Betty Helen, in January 1962 and they began their life together in Austin, Texas while he was putting himself through school at the University of Texas. He spoke often about the first time he saw her beauty and fondly remembered when their eyes met. Jack and Betty were united in marriage at Hyde Park Baptist Church on November 16, 1962 and began raising their family.
He built a foundation for his children by being their inspiration, encouragement, and rock as they built their own lives. His integrity, guidance, conservative nature, and unfailing determination to always do the right thing, will be carried forward through the generations he touched personally and professionally. Jack's life was about serving his family, and his purpose in doing anything, was to do for others.
Jack was a scholar who held a BBA degree from the University of Houston and earned his CPA. He was a graduate of Alvin High School in Alvin, Texas. He was a high achiever in his career as the Chief Financial Officer for real estate companies Nash Phillips/Copus, Holigan Homes, and most notably Sendera Investment Group in which he helped build with his two sons, Gary and Chris.
Jack had a distinct Texas manner, which was honorable, gentle and simple. He loved God and the scripture that grounded him most was John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Jack was loving and compassionate to everyone he met and gathered his strength from the authority of God's word. Devout Christians, Jack and Betty were longtime members of Main Street Baptist Church of Georgetown. As a resident of Lakeway, he has enjoyed the sermons at Lake Hills Church by Mac Richard, especially the cowboy ones.
Now Jack can rest in peace with the Lord the angels before him. He is preceded in death by his father and mother Travis and Velma Davis; sisters Luisa and Juanita; and in laws, father and mother, Ephy Carl and Gladys Murphy.
He is survived by wife Betty Helen Murphy Davis of Lakeway; son Gary Edward Davis and wife Laura Dee Smith Davis of Austin; daughter Angela Rhea Davis Mushegan and husband L. Michael Mushegan of Keller; son Christopher Matthew Davis and wife Jennifer Dawn Morris Davis of Austin; and "PawPaw" to grandchildren Austin Edward Davis, L. Michael Mushegan II, Jordan Christopher Davis, Cole Aaron Mushegan, Braden Wray Davis, Alexie Taylor Mushegan, and Lily Dee Davis, brother Lewis Davis of Kalispell, Montana; sister Mary Davis of Austin; brother Will Davis and wife Suzanne of Austin; brothers and sisters in law Joseph and Frances Dudley of Georgetown; and Carl and Trish Murphy of Georgetown.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis in Lakeway. Burial blessing and service will be at Austin Memorial Park located at Mopac and Hancock (2222). A reception will take place immediately following at the home of Gary and Laura Davis.
Although he is no longer with us here, now he is at his eternal Home with Jesus and our heavenly loved ones.
John 14:2-4
2 "My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going."
