

Jim was born April 23,1936 and died April 15, 2023, he was a widower of his beloved wife of forty years Kathleen Denmark Parris, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, died peacefully in his sleep just days before his 87th birthday.
Jim was born in Picayune, Mississippi, to Eula Bounds Parris and James Homer Parris Sr. He lived in Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, Alabama - and for the past few decades, in his much-loved “hill country” area of Texas. Jim and Kathleen attended Lakeway Church in Lakeway, Texas.
Jim enjoyed his years as building inspector for the city of San Marcos, and working with city employees, fellow building inspectors and architects.
Jim loved to travel, especially touring cathedrals, castles, and towns and villages throughout Europe. He was an avid collector of first edition books, and loved reading, and collecting, mystery novels by British authors. He was an Alabama Football fan, and enjoyed wearing his favorite team’s gear in Austin’s UT Longhorn country.
Jim is survived by his daughters Karen Nix (of Alabama), Cheri Bowman (of Montana), Melinda Koesters and Melissa Holland, and son James Thomas Parris (all of Texas).
He is survived by 11 grandchildren - Justin, Kellee, Hannah, John, Jacob, Jenna, Riley, Samantha, Amber, Kristen and Kevin. He has 9 great grands - Abby, Jaden, Jonah, Arianah, Piper, Easton, Zoe, Eli, and Keith. He is survived by his brother Steve and sister Pamela, and their families. And his stepchildren Kelly and Steve and their families.
He was preceeded in death by his parents and his brother Wayne. And the mother of his children, Evelyn Harrison Parris Soderholm.
He will be missed, but we know he is reunited with his Kate, living only 10 weeks after she passed away.
