Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Harriett Howser Weems.
Jim became one of the most well-respected and beloved real estate brokers in Lakeway during his sixty years of practice. His personality and loving heart affected the lives of hundreds if not thousands of newcomers as Lakeway grew from a small golf resort to the thriving city it is today. He is a partner in the Winette Group and was instrumental in driving the growth of the many successful developments that have flourished in the area.
Jim was born in Columbia, Mississippi and was a graduate of the University of Mississippi class of 1970. He is a lifelong member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Louise Keys Weems and his father, James Sol Weems.
Those fortunate enough to consider Jim a friend instantly recognized in him the definition of Friendship as set down by the late historian Stephen Ambrose in one of Jim’s favorite quotes: “Friendship is different from all other relationships. Unlike acquaintanceship, it is based on love. Unlike lovers and married couples, it is free of jealousy. Unlike children and parents, it knows neither criticism nor resentment. Friendship has no status in law. Business partnerships are based on a contract. So is marriage. Parents are bound by the law, as are children. But friendship is freely entered into, freely given, freely exercised. Friends never cheat each other, or take advantage, or lie. Friends do not spy on one another, yet they have no secrets. Friends glory in each other’s successes and are downcast by the failures. Friends minister to each other, nurse each other. Friends give to each other, worry about each other, and stand always ready to help. Perfect Friendship is rarely achieved…. but at its height it is ecstasy.”
His friends are and will be ever thankful for the true ecstasy he brought into their lives.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation to a favorite animal support organization be made on his behalf.
