“Do right” was a lifelong saying that she practiced and preached. Jane will always be remembered for her charm, her strength, and her deep love and devotion to her family, friends and faith. She always brought joy and optimism to every conversation.
Born on August 17, 1939 in Bryan, Texas, Jane was the daughter of Thomas Rollin and Victoria Richmond, and the eldest of four siblings. After graduating from Bryan High School, Jane attended the University of Texas in Austin for two years, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
In 1958, Jane married Bobby Hugh Robison of Crockett, Texas and lived in Houston, Texas. They had three children together, David Scott, John Stuart and Anne Kendell. Bobby sadly passed away on May 24, 1972. Jane was the pillar of strength and raised her children with the support of family, friends and faith. She began working at Southwestern Bell (now AT&T), and pioneered educational public relations, where corporations assist schools in education.
Jane met Joseph Irvin Benasutti of St. Mary’s, Pennsylvania, married on March 27, 1983 and lived in Houston. She continued to work at AT&T as a Public Relations Manager. Joe was Vice President of Operations at Ross Hill Controls until it was acquired by Ansaldo Energia in 1989, which is based in Italy. They moved to Basking Ridge, New Jersey in 1993 where Joe continued to work with Ansaldo, and were able to travel to Italy, Singapore, Seoul, South Korea and Bangkok for business. Jane and Joe shared a love for traveling. Jane retired from AT&T in 1993 and was able to enjoy life in New Jersey and travel along with Joe. After Joe retired in 1999, they moved to Lakeway, Texas to embark on a new adventure.
Once in Lakeway, she immediately dove into the community. She was active in Newcomer’s by being Membership Co-Chair, Vice President/Program Chair and President. Jane also joined the Women’s Club of Greater Lakeway, where she had a real impact. She held many leadership and committee roles and was President 2013-2014. Jane particularly loved her time being a Bellini Babe, which fed her love of being social. She was elected to the Lakeway Civic Club Organization and served as a Board Member from 2017-2019 and was President in 2019. Other important activities for Jane were being active at the Lakeway Church, being a City of Lakeway volunteer receptionist, volunteering for special events at The Harbor at Lakeway and managing her small vacation rental business in Italy! Jane and Joe spent their free time traveling, attending social gatherings with their friends, spending time with family and being active at church.
Jane continued to be very active and social after her husband Joe passed away on December 12, 2017. Even after getting sick, Jane enjoyed seeing friends and family up until her death. She was a special lady and was adored by all.
Jane is survived by her son David S. Robison and wife Michele of Austin, Texas, son John S. Robison and partner Jason Papp of Austin, Texas and daughter Anne K. Matt and husband J.
