Mary Jean Reddy of Coleman Texas via Gainesville Texas was also known as Jean Davis and more recently Jean Warren was a red-headed rebel who loved Willie and Waylon and boots and bourbon. She was a saucy icon who entertained her lady friends with pink plates and frilly things. Though she loved her jewels and her hair perfectly done, she also enjoyed a good football game directed by Patrick Mahomes, a John Wayne or Audie Murphy WW II movie and a local country & western bar where she could two-step on occasion.
In her early professional days, she was a history teacher which received her a Teacher of the Year award in the Plano Independent School District. She later pursued an administration position in Plano and earned herself the first female secondary principal in the Plano school system. Her passion for history and education lead to much world travel, and doing so with her husband Charles Herbert Warren, her many friends were high on her list. Moving to Austin in 2002 from Plano allowed her to spend quality time with her family. She was very close with her two sons, Darin and Brad, her daughters’ in-laws Karisa and Tiffany, her three grandsons, Hunter, Connor and Kaden and her granddaughter, Everly.
Spending the last 19 years in central Texas she made many friends which started with Newcomers Club where she served one term as president. Funny, loving and giving, she was the rudder on the ship of her choice. She never complained and did not care for complainers. She approached every major challenge with a Winston Churchill mentality, and it worked for her and the people she encountered. Her friends and family knew they could count on her and they did, and she produced.
Mama Jean, Mom, Mary Jean, Jean will be missed. Her family and friends counted on her to bring the smile, the positive attitude, and the good spirits that followed her everywhere she was present. We will toast you, we all will miss you and we all love you.
