Karl Albert Sandstrom, 74, of Lakeway, Texas, died Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Seton Medical Center, Austin, of complications following a stroke. Karl was born on March 28, 1947 in Worcester, Massachusetts to Richard and Eleanor Sandstrom. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1970. Karl was a proud Marine through and through, but he considered his greatest titles those of husband, father, and Poppy. Karl was an active member of River in the Hills Church in Lakeway and the Lakeway Friday Car Club. Karl could often be seen driving around town in his 1932 red Ford pickup truck with a cup of Dunkin Donuts Coffee. He was always quick with a joke and equally ready to lend a helping hand. Karl was the family handyman, continually building and fixing things around the house, from tiling the kitchen to building doll beds for his granddaughters. He enjoyed singing at church, gardening, and spending time with his family. Karl is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Sandstrom; his daughter, Amy Louise Sandstrom Hill; son-in-law, Jonathan James Sandstrom Hill; granddaughters, Eleanor Karlin Sandstrom Hill and Annika James Sandstrom Hill; as well as his siblings, Kerry Sandstrom, Jean Sweet, Robert Sandstrom, and Philip Sandstrom. A Celebration of Life Service to honor Karl will take place on December 12, 2021 at 4:00pm at River in the Hills Church, Lakeway, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to Candlelight Ranch Families in Nature or Children in Nature Programs.
