Obituary of Kathryn Smith Neu
Kathryn Smith Neu, 74, of Lakeway, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday March 15th, 2023. Kathy, known to her two grandchildren as Mimi, was born on March 26th, 1948, in Austin, Texas to Homer and Mary Jane Smith. Kathy graduated from McCallum High School in 1966 and went on to Southwest Texas State University where she earned a Bachelors in English. In 1968, she married Larry Dipprey, also of Austin, whom she met while in middle school at a choir event. After briefly living in San Antonio where their beloved daughter Marci was born, and a short time in Houston, they returned home to Austin in 1978. Kathy was a member of the Womens Symphony League, Laguna Gloria Art Guild, and an active volunteer at her church. Through these years she formed many lifelong friendships. Kathy had a deep knowledge and intense passion for sports of all kinds. She absolutely loved watching Texas Aggie football. Her smile was always bright and her laugh was contagious and both are unforgettable. Her love of people was like no other and she only wanted good for those she came in contact. Kathy started her real estate career at Keller Williams at the NWMC in Austin in 1993. She had an amazing career and grew to be one of the most respected and admired leaders in the company. She was a top producing agent and the very first Team Leader at the Lake Travis Market Center. Kathy then went on to KWRI to head up the first Luxury Division which is now one of the largest in the industry. She was Executive Director of KW Cares and was still an active board member. Kathy returned to the Team Leader role at Lake Travis in 2021, coming full circle back to her “home.” Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Homer and Mary Jane Smith, her grandmother Jewel Murchison, and her husband Larry Dipprey. She is survived by her daughter Marci Densmore and adoring grandchildren Emily and Grant Densmore. She is also survived by sister Susan Smith, her husband John Lynch and their son Christopher, and her sister Patty Lucas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ron and Kandy Dipprey and their daughters Gina Metzler and Trisha Dipprey. Kathy lived a Christ-filled life, loved her family fiercely, and never met a stranger. She spent her entire life serving others, always finding the positive in every situation and applying her humility to provide the most sensitive and grace filled wisdom. Kathy will forever be loved and missed by her family and many friends. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Tunnel 2 Towers and KW Cares. Visitation will be Monday, March 20th from 5-8PM, with a memorial service to follow on Tuesday, March 21st at 11AM at the Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home-Lakeway, 411 RR 620 S, Lakeway, TX 78734. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.wcfishlaketravis.com for the Neu family.
