Kenneth was born January 10, 1930 in Valley View, TX to Buster Frank and Clota Lemons. Being the oldest son of migrant farm workers, Ken developed an incredible work ethic which propelled him to enjoy a wonderful life. His fierce devotion to his family knew no bounds, and he loved his dear wife more each year they were together. His ability as an intuitive problem solver was legendary.
Ken served in the Army from 1951 to 1953. His athleticism and attention to detail made him a consistent standout and earned him an invitation to Officer Candidate School. After returning from Korea and his subsequent discharge from the Army he went on to graduate from the University of Texas School of Engineering as a Chemical Engineer in 1958. Colgate Palmolive hired him during his senior year, where he would travel the world developing, designing, purchasing and troubleshooting liquid packaging machinery during a career that spanned over 33 years.
His interests were golf, fishing and hunting with his friends, children and grandchildren. He amassed four holes in one during his golf career that started at Ash Brook Golf Course in Scotch Plains, NJ and finished at Yaupon Golf Course in Lakeway, TX into his 80's. During his years in Texas he donated thousands of golf balls and several sets of clubs to the Throckmorton High School golf team, teaming up with the Scarlett family to support the team's success.
Ken was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. The depth of his love knew no bounds and he had no compunction about showing it. His family knows we are truly blessed to have had him as our mentor and leader and his influence will be felt for generations.
A memorial service will be held at the Lake Travis United Methodist Church, 1502 RR 620 North, Austin, Texas 78734 at 1pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2015.
