Our dear brother, son, father and friend Lance Taylor Hoke passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014. Lance was a devoted father to his surviving children: daughter Sydney Taylor Hoke, 12 and son Shane Mitchell Hoke, 9. Lance is also survived by his mother and father, Joann Hoke and Jerry Hoke and brother Chad Mitchell Hoke and family.
Lance was a top sales representative for the pharmaceutical company Bristol Meyers Squibb working in oncology sales. Spending his formative years in Houston, TX, Lance attended Westfield High School and attended college at Texas State University where he was awarded with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing upon graduation in 1991.
A natural leader, Lance was the eleventh of a twelve man family legacy for the Kappa Sigma fraternity. At Texas State, he served as president of the Theta Lambda Chapter during his senior year. Lance organized and conducted an annual Fite Nite fundraising event for his fraternity chapter for over twenty years. In the years spent in the Kappa Sigma fraternity Lance established and enriched friendships that remained with him throughout his life.
Lance was a man of faith and an active member of Lake Hills Church in Austin. We remember him for his zest for life; his love of music, great food and fine art. While Lance appreciated these finer offerings of life, Lance's true passion was his family, especially his children. Whether coaching their sports teams, or leading youth clubs and managing carpools, Lance participated and engaged fully in every aspect of his children's lives.
Lance will be sorely missed by all who know and love him. Until we meet again, may we all remember him and when we do, inevitably we will smile.
