Laura Gessner Kelly, 68, of Austin, Texas, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024. Growing up in Alabama, Laura put herself through college, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Samford University. She went on to receive her master’s degree from Auburn University, eventually attaining her accreditation as a CPA. As she
pursued her education, Laura served her country as a Major in the United States Air Force, where she met her life long partner, John Kelly.
Following her time in the service, Laura’s intellect and passion for hard work earned her multiple Csuite positions at several major financial institutions, including MasterCard, American Express, and Dun and Bradstreet. Toward the end of her impressive career, Laura served as a valued member of the board of directors for three companies. When she wasn’t working, Laura always kept busy, whether she was learning languages, traveling the world with loved ones, or challenging herself with new recipes in the kitchen. In all of Laura’s endeavors, she was a monumental force, succeeding at anything she put her mind to.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, John Kelly; son, Jacob Kelly; her sister, Sherry Snow; and an extended family of cousins, aunts, and nieces. If desired, donations in Laura’s name may be made to the Brock Business School at Samford University.
The family would also like to thank the doctors and healthcare staff at MD Anderson for giving Laura the chance to keep living a rich and full life. Condolences may be sent to the family through the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Lakeway.
