Lisa Ann Welsh

Lisa Ann Welsh of Austin, Texas went to be with our Lord – Jesus on Friday, August 7, 2026 at the age of 64. Lisa was born in the Summer of 1962 in El Paso, Texas, being the daughter of Joel Gardea Uranga and Ann Carolyn Rutledge, where she grew up playing the piano, and dancing ballet. In everything she did, she put her whole heart into it always shining with the biggest smile.

Lisa was a bright student having graduated from Coronado High School in El Paso, Texas in 1980, and from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1984 receiving a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. For many years, she worked as a computer programmer at the El Paso Natural Gas Company (now known as Kinder Morgan).

After moving to Austin, Texas, Lisa worked as a Manager in Technical Support, among other divisions, at PowerSchool, a leading provider of cloud-based K-12 software, for many years where she could seamlessly be a leader, mentor, trusted colleague, and friend, often all in the same conversation.

She loved music and taught piano lessons in the 1980’s and 1990’s as well, with annual piano recitals and numerous trips to play piano at the local nursing homes with her students. She also enjoyed teaching aerobics classes incorporating her favorite music from the 70’s and 80’s. She played piano and keyboard at numerous churches, including Jesus Chapel West in El Paso, TX, Abundant Church in El Paso, TX, and Impact Church in Austin, TX. She also loved to go and see the Piano Guys, the Pentatonix, and loved to watch the popular talent shows. Aside from music, she also loved professional, college, and high school football and volleyball, and was well versed in the mechanics of the games.

Her life was built around hospitality as she loved to entertain with big Thanksgiving meals, Christmas parties, parties for her piano students, and for over 13 years, served large dinners together with bible studies at her home on a monthly basis. She loved to give and pour her life and love into others by baking wonderful treats like ginger snaps, cakes of all kinds, poppy seed bread, banana nut bread, pumpkin bread, pear bread, cinnamon rolls, and cream cheese brownies, to name a few. Lisa was also an ace at setting up Team tables for our children’s tournaments and sporting events and even for her husband’s business conferences. She was an excellent Team mom throughout our children’s athletic endeavors.

Lisa was a loving wife and mother, and is survived by her husband of 38 years, Gary, her daughter, Amanda, and her son, Joshua – all of whom love and adore her dearly. Her bright smile and shining spirit are forever with us, and with the love she poured into us, she would expect us to carry on her legacy and pour such love into others.
