Liz earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Mary Washington and studied Pharmacology for three years at the University of Virginia Schoolof Medicine. On April 7, 1980, Liz married her husband, Jimmy L. Barker, and soon relocated to Texas. In her career she worked as a chemist and as a teacher for at-risk high school children. Liz enjoyed spending time with her family and cheering on the Texas Longhorns during football season.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy L. Barker, and daughter, Jessica Mae Atkinson.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis, 411 Ranch Road 620 South, Lakeway, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis Chapel followed by interment at 1:45 p.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
