Lloyd Russell Cook, 66, of Dripping Springs, TX passed away suddenly on February 4, 2023 at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Lakeway after a short illness with his wife of nearly 45 years at his bedside. God called him home on the anniversary of his father's death (Leroy Russell Cook) on February 4, 2004 also at the age of 66.
Born in Pasadena, Texas to Shirley Ruth Miller and Leroy Russell Cook, he changed careers from the grocery business to become a carpenter like his grandfather, Eugene Miller at the age of 21 in Houston, Texas. He honed his carpentry trade in Houston and San Antonio. He and Vicki had two children before moving their family to High Bridge, New Jersey in 1987. There, he established the Lone Star Cabinet Company building a reputation as a skilled and honest craftsman. He loved his 17 years in NJ and the relationships he established with friends, contractors, and repeat customers. In 2003 he was awarded an honorary plaque by the Annandale Hose Company #1 for his generous support in the completion of their new firehouse. In 2005, with their children grown, he and Vicki left the harsh winters to return to their roots in Texas and re-establish his business.
Lloyd was a self-made man who spent his days pursuing his passion for woodworking, loving his family and friends, and sharing stories with those around him – usually over a cold beer. He was a devoted husband who was especially proud of his children Christopher and Jessica and was blessed to have enjoyed time with his four grandchildren before he passed.
He is survived by his wife Victoria Starr (Barber); son Christopher Thomas Cook (spouse Jennifer Leigh Taler), grandchildren Anderson Thomas (6) and Madelyn Leighton (1) of Glen Ridge, NJ; daughter Jessica Starr DiMarco (spouse Stephen), grandchildren Vincent Russell (5) and Stevie Starr (3) of Austin, TX; mother Shirley Ruth Russell and brother Eugene Russell (son of Shirley Ruth & Marvin Eugene Russell - deceased) of Peachtree Corners, GA; and stepbrothers Rick and Ray Busby (sons of Betty Joyce Trahan Cook of Louisiana - deceased) of Austin, TX.
