Margaret “Maggee/ Mags” Littman nee Carroll has left a hole in the hearts of her family and friends in passing. Born in Liverpool, she always carried a love for her English heritage. A fan of tea and toast, a witty story or joke and the community her upbringing brought. She was born during WWII, her mum never knowing for sure the time of her arrival because of the blackout shades. Her early years were spent in Wales avoiding the war. Despite the devastation in Liverpool, Maggee enjoyed the countryside with her mum, 2 sisters and brother while her father was a sea in the RAF.
Maggee left Liverpool in 1961 after marrying.
She arrived in Dover, DE and stayed in the US as a permanent resident from then on. Living in Nebraska, NY, CT and ME she had 3 children who she loved fiercely.
Maggee loved to travel and often spontaneously would plan getaways for her and her kids on a whim. She sacrificed a lot to make those moments happen but created many memories and laughs. Which is what drove her, giving love and joy to her family.
Lovingly referred to as Grandmum by the many whose lives she crossed, her warmth and sincere desire to help made her someone that people confided in. Even just standing in line at the store, a person would open up and tell Maggee everything that was on their hearts.
She was a creative soul who loved to write and paint. A voracious reader, she would polish off 8-9 books a week.
In later years, her grandchildren gave her life. She sparked joy when she would walk into a room and their eyes would light up. The mischief and fun she brought to their lives will be missed.
Maggee’s health in recent years had been poor. Her independence and strength on fill display as she fought over and over again.
Her family will be having a private service as Maggee wished. In honor of Maggee, the family asks for prayers for her peace and contentment. May she be reunited with the many she lost before her including her oldest daughter, parents, sisters, brother and ex- husband who remained a dear friend. If so inclined, Maggee was a fierce supporter of animals. She would welcome a donation to an animal cause of your choice on her behalf.
Maggee was loved by many but none more than her family. Our hearts are breaking and we wish we could hug her one more time.
