Marshall was born to Marshall George McMaster (Sr.) and Emma Estell Pulkrabek on June 21, 1932 in Yoakum, Texas. Much of his childhood was spent in Seguin, Texas, where he graduated from Seguin High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served from 1951-1954. After his honorable discharge, he attended Texas Lutheran College and St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. He established and owned Marshall’s Hair Fashions in San Antonio for over 40 years. Upon retiring, he moved to Austin, Texas to be near his three sons and their families.
Marshall was a friend to all and a stranger to none. Owning a beauty salon, he cut many heads of hair but loved talking with his customers the most. He always knew how to make you laugh, and his mischievous smile was all you needed to know he was up to something. He enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing, gardening, and a good meal with family. Over his 91 years, God only knows how many fish he caught but it was the ‘big one’ that always got away. Above all, he built his home around his Catholic faith, instilling his devotion to God and family to his sons, who loved him dearly.
Marshall is preceded in death by his parents, his brother James David (J.D.) and wife “Frankie”, and his grandson, Austin. Marshall is survived by his beloved wife of almost 63 years, Pauline McMaster and their sons John Paul and wife Karen with their daughter Morgan; Neal and wife Mary with her children Joe and Anna; and Fr. Brian McMaster. He is also survived by his niece, Susan McMaster Turell and her husband, Dr. David Turell of Houston.
