Mary Jane Madden, 87, was welcomed into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ peacefully on September 15, 2025 in Austin, Texas. Born in Pennsylvania, she was the beloved daughter of Viola and Michael Manuel Vazquez. She later married the love of her life, John Madden, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and joy while raising their three children, Kim, Kelly, and John II.
Mary Jane was the heart and soul of her family- their cherished matriarch. A loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother (“MiMi"), and friend, she lived with a deep love for Jesus and a generous, caring spirit that touched everyone she met. Known for her warm presence, she had a gift for making others feel special and inspired.
After graduating, Mary Jane began her career at Crucible Steel Company working in the Titanium Division and Metallurgical Department. In her free time, she loved traveling and was a model for Saks Fifth Avenue.
Following Mary Jane and John’s marriage in Pennsylvania, they settled in Colorado and started their family. Together, they created countless memories skiing the slopes of Vail and Aspen, and camping in the Rocky Mountains. Later, after moving to Texas, Mary Jane dedicated her life to raising their three children. Mary Jane adored watching her children grow up and delighted in many creative art projects, as well as having many volunteer roles in their classrooms over the years, and supported them in every endeavor. She loved golfing and swimming at the country club and cherished all the family vacations they would take every year, especially to the beach in Panama City, FL. She was an amazing mother!
During the time they lived in Louisville, she formed many more lifelong friends and worked at Brown-Forman Corporation, as Sales Manager in the Eastern Region (Finger Lakes) of Mendocino Cooperage for 13 years. She and John eventually returned to Texas, where they fulfilled their dream of building a retirement home on the golf course.
In this season of her life, her greatest joy was being “MiMi” to her six amazing grandchildren. She cherished attending all of their activities, sharing long talks, hosting sleepovers, and creating lasting memories with her signature back scratches, bubble baths, and peanut butter banana smiley faces. She was a faithful parishioner at Emmaus Catholic Church where she found joy and strength in volunteering in Adoration.
Mary Jane is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John W. Madden; her parents, Viola and Michael Vazquez; and her brother, Michael Vazquez. She is survived by her three children, Kim and husband Scott Kingsley, Kelly Madden, and John W. Madden II and wife Melissa; her six grandchildren, Scotty, Ryan, and Kate Kingsley, and Mason, Maren, and Morgan Madden. She also leaves behind her sisters Angie (Mike Balco), Violet DeFelice, and Francine Sterud; her sister-in-law Juleann Wood; brothers-in-law, Jim (Lea Madden), and Jerry (Bunny Madden); as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
