Michael was born on August 25th, 1972 to proud parents, Richard Edward Elliott and Shirley Kay (Yarnell) Elliott in Jefferson City, Missouri.
As an only child Michael was the light of his family’s life and grew up within a mile of both sets of grandparents in rural Clarksburg, Missouri. His childhood was spent on his fraternal grandparents’ farm- working with machinery, learning the land and developing his inquisitive nature through observations and experiments.
Michael attended Clarksburg Elementary in Clarksburg, Missouri from Kindergarten through the 8th grade. He attended California High School in California, Missouri where he graduated 3rd in the CHS Class of 1990. Michael excelled in all of his academic pursuits and was a member of the National Honor Society as well as winning school, regional and state awards in Geometry, Algebra and Business Studies. Michael pursued a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri – Rolla and graduated Summa Cum Laude in the spring of 1994. Next, he attended Purdue University where he was a teaching assistant and earned his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in December of 1995.
Michael was an electrical engineer for the entirety of his professional life. In 1996 his first job, as a design engineer, landed him in Greensboro, North Carolina at Analog Devices, Inc. In 2014 he began a tech start-up, Radius Semiconductor, LLC, with 3 of his co-workers and friends. In the summer of 2019 Michael and his family relocated to Austin, TX for a shift back to a corporate position, as a Mixed Signal Engineer, at Apple, Inc. In the summer of 2023 Michael returned to Analog Devices, Inc. as Senior Principal Engineer. Throughout his career Michael’s creative design and unique problem-solving skills resulted in his authoring and co-authoring 18 industry patents. Some of his designs include military applications, space exploration advancement and everyday technology use in smart phones and medical equipment. His work is recognized industry wide for his enormous contributions to data-converters, wireless and wireline systems. Michael also co-authored a textbook chapter that is used amongst the engineering community, Advances in Analog and RF IC Design for Wireless Communications Systems.
Michael had many hobbies and interests, as a lifelong learner he loved using his hands and mind. He adamantly cheered on the Missouri Tigers (M-I-Z…) during football and basketball seasons and was a loyal fan regardless of the team’s record. He also cheered for the Purdue Boilermakers – but not as passionately. Michael loved woodworking and created beautiful and functional pieces for his family’s home. Through the years he enjoyed 3D printing, reef fish tanks, photography and astronomy. Since moving to Texas, his favorite ways to unwind were sitting in the hot tub admiring the hill country views and grilling on his Kamado Joe for others. He could not wait to retire to spend his days in pursuit of his hobbies and to travel the world with his wife. In the last few years Michael and his wife, Danielle, explored Austin as much as possible and he loved the local music and foodie scene.
While living in North Carolina, Michael was involved in the Summerfield Recreation Association as a coach for both of his children in baseball and basketball, as well as served on the SRA Board as the Commissioner of Softball for 2 years. Michael had a strong Christian faith and led his family by example. He was a member of Summerfield Peace United Methodist Church where he served on the Finance Team. Since moving to Texas Michael was a member of Lake Travis United Methodist Church where he was involved in a discipleship group.
