

Nancy Mary Parisi Bonfitto passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at the age of 97. She was born on August 11, 1918 in West Springfield, Massachusetts to John B. Parisi of Italy and Rose Robustella of West Springfield. Nancy grew up in West Springfield, where she resided until moving to Springfield, Virginia in 1998 and from there to Austin,Texas in 2005. Nancy was married to Gabriel A. Bonfitto for 46 years until his passing in 1994.
Nancy was a graduate of West Springfield High School and a communicant of the former St. Ann's Church in West Springfield. She retired from John H. Breck, Co. after 17 years of employment there. Her passions in life included gardening, canning, cooking, singing, playing her antique pump organ and caring for her family. She was a warm, generous, and loving person who made a lasting impression on everyone she met. She could also be quite the character who stood out with her own unique style and wit.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Anthony Parisi, John Parisi and Frank Parisi; and sisters, Cecelia Galarneau and Mary Roberts. She is survived by her daughter, Ersilia Ash, and son-in-law, Michael Ash, of Austin, TX; son, Vincent Bonfitto, of San Francisco, CA; and three grandsons, Nicholas Ash, Matthew Ash and Christopher Ash, of Austin, TX.
Visiting hours will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 4th at Curran-Jones Funeral Home in West Springfield, MA. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, February 5, 2016 in the Curran-Jones Funeral Home Chapel followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.
