Patricia Ann Pearson

October 19, 1943September 8, 2020

Patricia “Pat” Ann (Barnett) Pearson, age 77, of Spicewood, Texas, passed away September 8, 2020, surrounded by family at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Wright City, Oklahoma, and moved to Texas at an early age. Pat was married to Harold Pearson for 47 years until his passing in 2013 and was a proud mother of two children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents Rowena Neill (Sparks) Spangenberg and Willie E. Barnett Sr.; brother, Willie E. Barnett Jr., and brothers-in-law, Lee Franklin Pearson and Arthur Bert Webb.

She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Ann Sinclair (and husband Chris); son, John Eugene Pearson (and husband Kevin); her beloved grandchildren Ashley Varner (and husband Sean), Austin Sinclair (and wife Shianne) and Bryce Sinclair (and fiancé Riley Colley); brother, Butch Hagelgans (and wife Judy); sister, Edith Stewart (and husband James); sisters-in-law, Edith Barnett and Marilyn Pearson; great grandsons Lane and Rhett Varner; and many nephews and nieces and extended family.

Pat and Harold married in San Antonio, Texas in 1966 and moved their young family to Austin in 1972 so Harold could finish his higher education. She was a homemaker to care for her children until they began elementary school and then took a part-time job at the elementary school to remain close. As her children grew, she worked alongside her husband until starting her career with Austin Community College as a math tutor and then as an accountant with the State of Texas before retiring in 2011.

Well after raising her children and moving from Austin to McDade (and later Smithville), she became active in karate, earning her third-degree black belt with Pratt’s Karate Club. She and her husband continued in karate for years by helping teach karate students. Following her husband’s passing, she moved to Spicewood to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

Family was very important to mom, so she requested a celebration of life event in lieu of a funeral. The celebration will be held in the Spring.

We wish to extend our sincere gratitude to her team of medical staff, especially Dr. Castillo with Texas Oncology and Texas Home Health/Hospice, most notably Ollie and Maria for their support and assistance. We also thank the many relatives and friends for their supportive prayers, visits, calls, and texts. Your help, thoughts, prayers, kindness and loving words mean more than we could ever express.

Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society or American Lung Association.

Awwwww...Pat....my heart is breaking...it's selfish of me to shed these tears, I admit...I should rejoice knowing you are no longer struggling and you are once again with those you loved dearly and missed sorely. I count myself among the fortunate ones blessed with your and Harold's friendship through the years.

Rest in peace, Pat. Hug Harold's neck for me. ♥️
