

Phyllis was born on December 24, 1948, to Philip and Frances Manganiello, in Brooklyn, NY. Phyllis was a force to be reckoned with from the get-go, graduating from Eli Whitney High School in 1965. She earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Hunter University in New York and a Master’s in Teaching English as a Second Language from Trenton State (now The College of New Jersey) in New Jersey. Phyllis taught elementary school at several different schools in Brooklyn, NY, retiring as an Instructional Coach from P.S. 132 in Brooklyn. During her summer vacations Phyllis often taught English abroad. She spent several summers teaching English in Positano, Italy and one summer in China.
Phyllis led a full and active life. Phyllis was an avid runner and ran the New York City Marathon. She also enjoyed golfing and traveling. Most of all, Phyllis lived for her family. She took care of her mother for many years and was a devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her sister, Rae Ann, brothers, Gary, Dennis and Anthony, sisters-in-law, Virginia, Judy and Sue, her nephews, Frank, David, Daniel, Gary, Matthew, Buddy and his fiancée Kharla, Chris and his wife, Valerie, her nieces, Annie, her fiancé Chris, Lisa and her husband Joel, Gina and her husband Chad, Geneva and Michelle and grandnephews, Luke, Ryan, Zac, and Ethan and grandnieces, Kate, Keirra, Lily, Jade and Ava.
Viewing Services will be held at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home, 411 Ranch Road 620, Lakeway, Texas on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and funeral services will be at Emmaus Church, 1718 Lohman’s Crossing Road, Lakeway, Texas at 10 a.m. on November 18, 2023.
