Robert "Bob" Daniel Plummer

Robert "Bob" Daniel Plummer passed away on June 11, 2026, in Austin, Texas, at the age of 85. He was born on September 17, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the first child of Hershel and Ruth Plummer, who later welcomed daughters Bonnie and Dorothy.

After graduating from Indiana Central College, Bob attended Indiana University, where he earned his MBA in 1964. There he met the love of his life, Donna Harrison. They were married on June 13, 1964, in Letts, Indiana, and shared 62 years of marriage.

Following their wedding, Bob and Donna moved to New Jersey, where Bob began a 32-year career with Western Electric, the manufacturing arm of the Bell System. His career took the family to several locations along the East Coast before they settled in Naperville, Illinois, where they lived for 35 years. In 2015, Bob and Donna moved to Tuscan Village in Lakeway, Texas, to escape the Chicago winters and be closer to their son Scott and his family.

Bob and Donna were blessed with two sons, Scott, born in 1968, and Eric, born in 1971. Both sons graduated from the University of Illinois. Scott and his wife, Amy, have two children, Lila and Ethan. Eric and his wife, Amy, had three children, twins Amanda and Chloe, and Evan. To the great sorrow of family and friends, Eric passed away from lung cancer in 2008 despite never smoking.

Faith was central to Bob's life, and he and Donna were active members of Grace United Methodist Church in Naperville and Lake Travis United Methodist Church in Lakeway, where he generously shared his time and talents. A lifelong learner who always had a book nearby and a solution for most problems, Bob was known for his kindness, dependability, and willingness to help. He cherished time with family and friends, whether close to home or traveling — from beloved family vacations at Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, to winters in Florida and trips throughout Europe.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Hershel and Ruth Plummer; his son, Eric Plummer; his sister, Bonnie Plummer; and Bonnie's husband, Ken.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna; his son, Scott Plummer, and wife Amy, along with their children, Lila and Ethan; his daughter-in-law, Amy Plummer, and her children, Amanda, Chloe, and Evan; his sister, Dorothy, and her husband, Bruce; and many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, faith, and steady presence.

A memorial service will be held at Lake Travis United Methodist Church in Lakeway, Texas, on Friday, June 26, at 2:30 p.m. Also, a Celebration of Life for Bob will also be held at Grace United Methodist Church in Naperville, Illinois, on Saturday, July 11th. The open house will be from 2:30 p.m. to 430 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lake Travis United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
