

Roy Leonard Beckelhymer Jr. passed away peacefully on February 21, 2013 surrounded by family and friends at Longhorn Village, Austin TX. He was born in Shreveport, LA on October 5, 1927, to Roy Leonard Beckelhymer Sr. and Veronica Britt Beckelhymer. He was predeceased by his daughter Nancy, his parents and his sister Veronica.
Roy grew up in Houston, attended Lamar High School and VMI. On his 18th birthday, he enlisted in the Army and was deployed to Germany. After his tour, he finished his education at the University of Texas where he met his lifelong friend Pete Jistel. He graduated and became a Geophysicist for ARCO. While working in Lovington NM, he met his future wife, Edna Hall (Eddy). They were married in 1954 and had 58 years of fun, sadness and adventures. They spent time in London and Libya with their three children, Nancy, Roy III and Britt. The family returned to Houston where they lived until 1992 when Eddy and Roy moved to Lakeway. In 2010, they moved to Longhorn Village also in Austin.
Roy is survived by his wife, Eddy, his two sons Roy and Britt, their wives Janiece and Lauren and five grandchildren- Emily, Andrew, Eric, Erica and Alison, all of Atlanta, except Emily lives in London, UK.
The funeral service will be at 1:00pm on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at The Lakeway Church, 2203 Lakeway Blvd.
