I was a client of Rudolph's for 20 years, following him from salon to salon, until he left KaRu. I found him to be a true artist with enormous talent, and a man with a magical and magnetic personality from the first time I met him.
When my daughter turned 18, I treated her to a session with Rudolph before she left for college.  She is now 32, and when I told her of his passing, she said she's never forgotten that experience with him.
May he be at peace and may his family find peace in the words of all of his fans.

Brother Rudolph, I’m going to miss your warm smile and gentle demeanor. I am blessed to have shared many long rides and meaningful conversations with you. Ride free my brother.

The memories of Rudolph will live and inspire me for ever.  Rudolph  is by best friend.  We met about 11 years ago and each year we got closer.  I admire his many talents and his compassion for all.  We golfed quite often and just like his hair cutting and styling, he was always tuned into such perfection.   Many of times while golfing  we had deep spiritual conversations, tears, laughter and many moments of being connected to something much bigger than us.  Ru  was my best man at my wedding, he ironed my shirt, ran home and got me one of his ties, and did my wife Melody's hair.  Rudolph  will live on for so many, I feel blessed to be a part of his life.

Rudy my brother, so heartbroken, you were an amazingly kind and giving person. You were also one of the best hairdressers I have ever met. We had great adventures in hairdressing together, you inspired me and always made me smile. You taught me humility and humanity. You were such an inspiration to so many. We will miss you and smile that you are creating art and joy on your next adventure. Love.

Rudolph my friend! I have know you since 1990. I have known your first wife Theresa since she was 16 years old. You were working in the mall maybe Visible Changes with Theresa. Avant Salon hired you both but separated you…different locations! Rudolph you were such an inspiration & leader! Everyone hairdresser wanted To be  you ! You were progressive, forward, and way ahead of your time! I Love You ….I have Always Loved You…You and I spoke about the spiritually connection and the mental connection…….we were a GREAT  pair. I will meet up with you again MY FRIEND ! It will be a whole new ball game! I am looking forward to a future that includes you Rudolph! It was such an unbelievable Pleasure to know you on many levels. I am sure i got to know the Rudolph Rude….No One else had the pleasure of knowing! For this I THANK YOU! Love You Rude! I Have Always Loved You!   And will continue your legacy!

I grew up with Rudy.  His family, is my family.  He was like a big brother and a dear friend.  His affection for all people was amazing and he truly forgave people.  Rudy always took a deep interest in others, remembering small details that made one feel special.  He was an excellent listener and he had such a clever sense of humor.  His talent was astounding but it was his heart that truly put me in awe.  I will always miss him.  The world has one less person that accepted everyone for who they were.  One less person that gave everything to his friends & family.  One less truly beautiful soul.

My Rudy. So many beautiful memories. The day I Set eyes on you in the 90s “ visible changes” changed my life forever kid. We quit that salon because we couldn’t date and work together;) we went to avant and blossomed. I am so lucky I was your wife your dedication and love your patience with me I will cherish forever I can’t believe I can’t call you tomorrow babe. I love you I miss you save me a spot next to you. I will miss your energy your creative heart. True artist at everything you touch . Thank you for loving me . No matter we’re we were in life. We always made a point to call each other just to say. You were a master at your craft. You were an amazing human being. I remember when I first got convinced to spend the big bucks to get my first salon haircut (think in the late 90’s). I never looked back. I always enjoyed our talks, grabbing dinner or drinks afterwards and following you through your accomplishments. Your soul and smile will forever be remembered, my friend. ❤️

My friend Laurie Higginbotham convinced me to visit Rudolph sometime in the late 90s or early 2000s. I had never been one for "fancy" haircuts - but after my first visit, I was hooked. I continued to see Rudolph for many years, until he left KaRu, and always left with a smile on my face. He was so  full of kindness and generosity. I'm deeply saddened to hear of his passing.

Rudolph was a true artist and one of my favorite people in Austin for decades. He started cutting my hair in 1994, and I followed him everywhere he ever went, from the first place at 34th and Guadalupe (Salon Z or something similar) to Avant at multiple locations, to Waterstone, to somewhere on SoCo, to finally KaRu. He made me look and feel amazing every time I saw him. He did my hair for my wedding back in 2000. I knew him through all of my adult life and it was always one of my favorite things to spend an hour in his chair, talking to him and feeling better than when I came in. I will miss him terribly. He will always be one of my fondest memories of Austin.

Rudolph was one of the most talented, sweetest and genuine souls. I always felt so special when I was  working next to him or if he was giving me one of his signature haircuts. I always said he had an aura of goodness around him. 

Rudy gave me my first adult/professional hair cut and it looked incredible.  Since then our friendship continued for years.  He was just so jovial and kind.
