While I'm assured that you're with some of the greats and sad that your journey here ended so soon, I look forward to the day where you'll greet your loved ones again and tell them of the journey you're having now. Until we meet again, rest easy.



Dear Paul and Karen, we are deeply saddened to hear of the loss of your son, Ryan.  We send our love and wish you peace during this difficult time.  



Dear Paul, Karen, Collin, Teagan and Tessa,
Sending love and hugs to all of you in hopes that it can help give you strength at this most difficult time.   Please know that we are with you in spirit today as you celebrate the gift of Ryan's life.  We have many happy memories of Ryan from all of the family gatherings over the years and we hope that those memories can help bring you comfort. He will forever remain in our hearts.  May knowing that he is at peace and was loved by many, never to be forgotten, bring you solace. 



More than anyone nearly anyone I've met in my life, Ryan knew where my heart was. After living with him for a year in college, it didn't take long for conversation to turn deep and meaningful. He was a friend that cared far more than just the exterior. A written paragraph could never detail his care for me and all his friends.

Dear Betori Family,

We are deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Ryan. Please accept our deepest sympathies for your family and loved ones. Even though he did not graduate with us, he was an important part of our class and our lives, and we are forever grateful for the time we were blessed to spend with him. We studied with him, played sports with him, laughed with him, but best of all...we prayed with him. Affectionately called "Betori", he was our brother and each one of us cherished and loved him as such. Even though we have lost him, he is not truly lost...for we know exactly where he is; in the arms of our Father who loves him far beyond what we are capable of. Karen and Paul, we are so sorry and our hearts hurt to hear about Ryan and no words can describe what youâ€™re feeling. I have to reflect the time when â€œlilâ€ Ryan and DJ were playing for the Solon AAU basketball team and he was so shy off the court but on the court he shined and made those 3 pointers.
Now, to read all the good things heâ€™s done and a legacy he started solidifies what a wonderful son you reared. We pray for comfort and peace during this time.

I became friends with Ryan in high school and he fast became one of my favorite human beings. His intellect, his wit, his raw honesty, his genuine interest and willingness to listen are matched by few. I can't express how grateful I feel to have gotten a glimpse into the workings of his mind through the conversations we've had; he questioned everything and was open to all. I feel a sense of relief that his hurt is finished. Your family is so heavy in my heart. Thank you for bringing such a beautiful burst of a person into our lives.

The Lake Travis Cavalier basketball program and all the great kids that played for "CaVair" lost the consummate model for being a great leader--a captain--who always put his team first, kept the game in perspective, had the respect of his mates and opponents alike, made the game fun, had a tremendous work ethic and was a gifted "man-of-letters". Ryan,
I remember watching you sleep in a playpen at Grandma's house. When you woke from you nap the first word you said was "ball".  It use to amaze your Grandfather.  I also remember what you told me the first time you saw your baby cousin Kyle. You told me "He looked like a troll."  Something only a three year old could say. I still laugh every time I think of it.

To the Betori Family, Eric and I are both sadden and shocked when we heard the news about Ryan. Ryan was part of the 2009 Class at St Peter Chanel and Eric was his classmate and teammate. I have spoken to several kids from that class and they all had great things to say about Ryan.  Ryan always greeted me in the hallways with a smile.  He was always filled with joy!. Paul and Karen - you are phenomenal parents and Ryan was so skilled. I remember clutch free throws to reach the State Tournament, so much pressure and we all wanted Ryan on the line. Ball never touched the rim. He was the best youth coach I've been around. Everyone loved him and appreciated his relaxed style. He was always the best wake boarder on the boat. So fun, bright, athletic, easy to be around and missed...
