Sara Kay Wriborg, PT, MBA, also known as “my wife”, “Mama”, “best friend”, and “the life of the party”, passed away Saturday January 28, 2023 in Austin, Texas. She was a Cajun firecracker born in Lake Charles, LA and a loving wife, enthusiastic mother, dedicated sister/daughter and thoughtful friend. She received her Bachelor of Science: Physical Therapy from Louisiana State University Allied Health School in Shreveport and her M.B.A. in Health Care Administration/Management from Southeastern Louisiana University. Sara was employed by Select Medical of Mechanicsburg, PA serving as CEO of Baylor Scott and White Rehabilitation Institute of Lakeway.
Sara was born on October 5, 1973, to Loretta Gautreaux Ducharme “Grammy” and Richard “Dickey” James Wriborg. She is preceded in death by her mother, her grandparents James “Popo” David Wriborg, Ella Mae “Momo” Wriborg, and Willie Mae “Willie” Bihm, and our dog of 17 years, Lucky. She is survived by her wife of 8 years Stephanie Howell Wriborg, who was her “anchor” for 27 years; her twin daughters Ella Grace Wriborg and Renee Claire Wriborg; sisters Robyn Lynn Wriborg and Jaime Louise Ducharme; brother Kenny Scott Wriborg and her 3 cats Eve, Leo, and Milo (if you knew Sara, she would never claim them but she would be the first and last person out searching for them when one got lost).
Sara loved being with her family and friends, drinking coffee in the morning on “her porch”, Fun Family Friday, traveling (“weekend wonders”), fishing, being on the water by boat or kayak, tubing with friends, going to the beach, watching sunsets in Key West/Maui, laughing, singing, dancing (even on coffee tables in our den), sharing a “dirty dirty” martini with friends, boiling crawfish, eating oysters, watching Saints football, riding top down in her jeep (her dream car), visiting local vineyards, and making family picture books. Last but not least, she LOVED watching “her girls” grow up. She was Ella’s mastermind at figuring how to navigate the computer gaming world, while also being Renee’s biggest fan/best sideline coach at soccer and softball games. Game calls were actually changed because of her! Sunflowers always made her smile because they made her think of Stephanie, since that was their flower together. Her big, beautiful smile was contagious and her laughter; louder than ever. She was the ignition to every party and never met a stranger. Words that she owned were charismatic, energetic, compassionate, funny, witty, leader, strong, smart, and strategic. No gathering ended without a challenge to a rapping battle, dance off, or conversation making sure you understood her philosophy of life: “YOLO” and “you’ll never see a hearse pulling a U-Haul!”
A gathering and services will be held on Thursday February 9, 2023, at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home, 411 Ranch Road 620 South, Lakeway TX 78734. Opportunity to visit with the family will begin at 1 PM, and a Celebration of Life ceremony will take place at 2:30PM followed by a reception.
