Stanley O. Niles, formerly of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011, in Austin, Texas. He was born on February 24, 1929, in New Castle, Indiana to Leland “Mike” Niles and Bessie (Warrick) Niles. Both parents preceded him in death. He married Farel June Bono on October 13, 1949, in New Castle, Indiana. The love of his life preceded him in death on July 25, 2009.
After 30 years of service in data processing, Mr. Niles retired from Delco Electronics of Kokomo. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951-1959 during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Kokomo Elks Lodge and the Kokomo Moose Lodge.
Surviving are his daughter Mrs. Rae Lynn Harrison and husband Mark, Austin, Texas; son Mr. Scott Niles and wife Rae Anne, Bristol Wisconsin; daughter Mrs. Julia Ann Smeltzer and husband Tim, Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren, Megan Laurin and her husband Michael, Evan, Emily and Ian Harrison; Rae Lynn and Anna Leigh Niles, and Nicolas Smelter. Also surviving are his sister Susan (Niles) Downing of Muncie, Indiana and brother-in-law Darel P. Bono and his wife Carole, Oxford, Ohio.
In keeping with Stanley’s wishes, he will be cremated. There will be a Memorial Service to honor him at Glencove Cemetery in Knightstown, Indiana on May 14, 2011, at 3:00 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The American Red Cross. Weed-Corley-Fish in Austin, Texas and Sproles Family Funeral Home in New Castle, Indiana assisted the family with arrangements.
