Martha Sue (Dawson) English April 29, 1946 – August 5, 2022 (76 years) passed away peacefully in Lakeway, Texas. Sue was loved and adored by family and friends she made living across the world over the years. Born in Greenville, Texas she last resided in Bee Cave, Texas with her husband Michael. She and Michael lived in Greenville; Saudi Arabia; New Jersey; London, England; New Jersey again; Westlake Village, CA ; Houston and finally Bee Cave, Texas. Sue and Mike have no children, but many nephews, nieces and great nephews / nieces. Sue graduated from Greenville High School and attended college at East Texas State University (Commerce) and Fairleigh Dickenson University (Florham Park, NJ). Sue led a very active life playing tennis with her lady friends and lovingly-caring for her Standard Poodles (Harvey, Willie, Harry and Rufus) and horses (Gypsy and Duchess) over many years.
During their ‘California Years’, Sue and several very special Exxon wives formed an LLC, the ‘Late Bloomers’, and subsequently bought and operated Village Florist in Westlake Village following Sue’s leadership. Sue’s poodle, Willie, and Mike became local celebrities helping ‘the girls’ after work delivering flowers into the night to the local funeral homes, Hollywood celebrities and others. Sue was a James Minister at the First Presbyterian Church, Houston and later member of the Hills Country Club, Lakeway, Texas. She loved golf and tennis (her favorite) and the frequent opportunities to attend the ATP tennis tournament in Indian Wells, California plus Wimbledon and the French and Australian Opens; seeing her favorite, Roger Federer, wipe out his opponents … what ‘a trip’ they each were. A celebration of Sue’s life is being planned for later.
