Born in Tachikawa, Japan, while her father was stationed at a nearby Air Force base, T’s life began with movement and adventure. Her childhood was shaped by frequent relocations to bases in Okinawa, Alaska, Selma, Alabama, and ultimately Austin, where her father retired at Bergstrom Air Force Base. Her love of purple began with purple shag carpet in her childhood bedroom and blossomed into a vibrant identity. She wore purple every single day of her adult life, becoming affectionately known as “the purple lady” or “purple girl.” Even those who didn’t know her name knew her by her radiant, head-to-toe-purple.
T attended Texas State University and built a distinguished career in commercial property management, working with respected firms including CBRE, KOLL, JMB, Dell, Lynxs, Stream, and Transwestern. She earned the professional designations of RPA (Real Property Administrator) and FMA (Facilities Management Administrator) from BOMI, and in 1999, she was elected President of BOMA Austin—her proudest professional achievement.
It was at a BOMA Austin event in 1989 that she met the love of her life, Rob Ledbetter. They married in 1992 and shared a life filled with devotion, laughter, and the companionship of their beloved pets. T retired in 2022 to spend more time with her fur babies and embrace the joy of everyday life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Evelyn McClellan and is survived by her husband, Rob; brothers Mark (Sally) and Scott; and her cherished Aunt Lois Johnson of Harrisonburg, Virginia.
A celebration of T’s life will be held on Sunday, November 2nd. You can remember and honor T by wearing purple, preferably daily. Please reach out to Rob by email for more information: [email protected]
