

He was born on December 6, 1941 in Grand Rapids and grew up in northern Minnesota. He graduated from St. Cloud State University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's degree in education administration. He also pursued doctoral work in education at the University of Northern Colorado.
In 1963, Terry married Karol Lietha. They settled in Anoka, Minnesota, and had two daughters, Susan and Lynn. Terry pursued a career in education as a teacher, principal, and curriculum director for the Anoka-Hennepin school district. In 1981, Terry moved his family to Blytheville, Arkansas, where he joined the family soybean farming operation. During the quiet winters, Terry wrote Spelling for Word Mastery textbooks. He later served again as a public school principal, became a real estate appraiser, and taught as a college professor. In 2006, Terry and Karol moved to Texas to enjoy retirement.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, Roy L. Gabrielson, and his stepfather, C.W. "Bill" Bergquist.
Terry is survived by his mother, Audrey Bergquist, of Bovey, MN; his wife, Karol Lietha Gabrielson, of Spicewood, TX; his daughter, Susan Gabrielson Fulton and son-in-law Michael Fulton, of Austin, TX; and his daughter, Lynn Gabrielson, of San Antonio, TX.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Westlake United Methodist Church, 1460 Redbud Trail, in Austin, TX. Everyone is welcome to join the family at a reception following the service.
