In 1966 she married her high school sweetheart, Darrell and were together in marriage 44 years. She was employed at NASA until she, Darrell and Jared moved to Lakeway, TX in 1978. They began their life-long dream and brought The Living Desert Cactus Nursery to the community of Bee Cave, TX. She and husband Darrell have owned The Living Desert Cactus Nursery in Bee Cave, TX since 1979. They were not only partners in marriage but partners everyday in business. Her love for her work was always evident in the beautiful items that adorned the shelves of the nursery. She brought joy to the people who entered her world of creation the moment they stepped into the shop. Yvonna was an extremely talented artist and had a great sense of expression no matter what she did. Antiquing was a past-time she enjoyed and there was an appreciation for these things that were so precious to someone "once upon a time".
Her strong faith and belief never faltered . As a member of the Catholic faith Yvonna dedicated many hours to endless prayer and help with many worthy organizations. She had a strong spiritual presence which most everyone who met her recognized and always the first to come to someone's aid with prayer and words of encouragement. God truly had a servant in Yvonna. When it is said that "the good die young" she would be one of those. The Lord has her by his side but we will keep her here in our hearts.
