Brent was born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1953, the first child of Henry D and Leah (Lister. His sister, Kairle, was born 3 years later. Before he started school, the family moved to Provo, where his father worked at BYU in audio-visuals. They built their home on Apple Ave. at the foot of the ‘Y’. He attended Brigham Young High School, known as BY High. When the school closed, he then attended and graduated from Provo High School.
Brent served a 2-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northeastern States Mission, starting in the Boston area. After his mission, he graduated from BYU in Real Estate Finance.
He started his career in Real Estate in Utah County. He later went back to school for a graduate degree at the J Reuben Clark Law School in the JD-MBA program. Upon graduation he was employed by Metmor Financial in Los Angeles. He was the Broker in various companies or offices over the years, with acquisitions, buy outs, and name changes. He continued his work in Commercial Real Estate Finance until he passed.
So many professional contacts were made, all over the country. Many became his personal contacts and friends, connecting and reconnecting with associates and friends all of his life. He loved reunited on Facebook with classmates, old companions from his mission, and past friends.
Brent and Mindy (Bursik) were married in the Los Angeles Temple and became a blended family. They lived in the Santa Clarita Valley and the Antelope Valley for nearly 40 years. The Listers served for many years in the Lancaster, CA Stake for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Brent served in many presidencies, Bishoprics, stake positions and stake councils. He especially loved his callings in service and was a minister to many. They were called as Temple Workers in the LA Temple in 2014 and continued until the present.
Brent enjoyed his 60’s music, cars, computers, concerts, and travel. Together they cruised too many times and places to count. He never missed a BYU football game or any other BYU sport that was televised. Brent bled blue! Above all, he loved his family and activities with children and grandchildren.
Brent lived a full life. He will be remembered for his easy-going nature, humor, his uncompromised faith, and thoughtful wisdom. He was a gentle giant in all aspects. Brent unexpectedly passed in his sleep.

17 Grandchildren, numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved daughter, Lorna Lister.
Visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 3140 W Ave K, Lancaster, CA, 93536, on January 29, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Family Viewing is scheduled at the same venue on January 30, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.
The Graveside Service will take place at Desert Lawn Memorial, 2200 E Avenue S, Palmdale, CA, 93550, on January 30, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
