Delbert Arnold Brady entered into rest September 26 at his home in Lancaster, Ca at the age of 84 years 7 months 6 days with a full head of hair. He was surrounded by love and his devoted caregivers, Sheila, Josh, Day, Mila, and Jax. Delbert was born February 20, 1939 in Guthrie Center, IA to Robert and Arline (Nickel) Brady. As a child, his family moved around a lot before finally settling on a farm north of Wray in 1953. He graduated from Wray High School in 1957 and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Colorado State University. He married his high school sweetheart, Pauline Crouse, in 1958 and to this union were born two children, Timothy Arnold and Debra Kay. Delbert moved his family to Pomona, California in 1964, where he worked at General Dynamics. They moved again, to Upland, California, in 1968, where they stayed until Delbert and Pauline’s divorce. He later married Neelofur “Fairy” Abidi and her two children Aine and Aun in 1993, they lived together in Palmdale, California, until Fairy’s death in 2014. Delbert married Sheila Gibson in 2019. He was the Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #607 from 1976-1980 and completed Woodbadge training #W45-2-44 in the Antelope patrol. In the late 1970’s, while working for a company who had been commissioned by NASA, Delbert helped build the soil collector that went to Mars on the Viking II. In 2015, Delbert started volunteering at The Highlands Church in Palmdale, Ca with their Recovery program. Preceding him in death are his parents, Bob and Arline, his brother Dennis, his daughter- in-law Melinda Johnson, and his third wife, Neelofur Brady. Surviving him are his fourth wife Sheila, his first wife Pauline, his brother Delman, sister Denise, his children; Tim and wife Jodi, Debbie and husband Mike Morford, Aine Abidi, Aun Abidi, Vic Johnson and wife Laurie, Mitch Johnson, John Gibson, Theresa Short, Joseph Capistrant, seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be held Friday, October 6 at Joshua Mortuary & Joshua Memorial Park in Lancaster, Ca by Rev. Jim Bryant and interment will be at Joshua Memorial Park in Lancaster, Ca.
