Dorothy Ruth Sundberg

Dorothy Ruth Sundberg (Troeger) was born January 7,1928, to Erwin and Marguerite Troeger, in Santa Monica, CA. After completing her elementary school years, Dorothy graduated from Santa Monica High School and UCLA. It was also in Santa Monica where she met the love of her life Howard A. Sundberg and they were married June 19, 1949. It was a union that would last 71 years.

In 1953, the couple, along with their two children, Howard (b. 1950) and Thomas (b. 1952) , moved to Lancaster. Three more children were born there, Stephen (b. 1955, d. 2016), Margaret (b.1959) and Carolyn (b. 1963). During the children’s younger years, Dorothy was a loving and devoted mother and homemaker. Later she worked for a number of years in the employ of the Lancaster School District.

A central part of Dorothy’s life in Lancaster was Grace Lutheran Church where she was a faithful member for 68 years.

Dorothy passed away unexpectedly on November 14, 2021, at Antelope Valley Hospital. She is survived by four children, six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. All her family is comforted by her strong faith and that she is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is reunited with her husband, parents and son who predeceased her.
