

Eleanor Louise Henley, age 100, of Lancaster, California, passed away on March 12, 2025. Eleanor was born on May 22, 1924 in Lawrence, Kansas, to Roy and Hazel (Bailey) Davenport. She was the second of four children. She married her husband of 60 years, Buford Henley, in 1943 in Lawrence, Kansas. The couple moved to California in 1944, where they raised their two sons, Mark and David. Buford and Eleanor resided in Tujunga for 47 years, before moving to Lancaster in 1991.
Eleanor was a telephone operator in Lawrence. After moving to California, she was a full-time homemaker for 19 years before obtaining her LVN license in 1963. She worked as an LVN for 16 years at Elim Covenant Home in Tujunga.
Eleanor’s legacy is one of kindness, love, and deep faith. Eleanor attended Open Bible Church in Tujunga, serving as a Sunday school teacher for the four-and-five-year-olds; church secretary-treasurer for 19 years; and ladies’ group president for two terms. In Lancaster, Eleanor attended First Assembly of God, and was active in the Sunday adult bible study, the Thursday ladies’ bible study, and Hands Extended.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Hazel Davenport; brothers Leo and Mark Davenport; sister Carol Reece; husband Buford Henley; and son David Henley. She is survived by her son Mark Henley of Lancaster, California; grandson David Henley, and great grandson Jacob Henley, of Moline, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2025, at Joshua Memorial Park, Lancaster, with graveside service following. Visitation will precede the services, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
