Eric Scott Edmonds, age 44, passed away peacefully at his home in Rosamond, CA. After a brief and courageous battle with cancer, he went home to be with his grandparents and our Heavenly Father on Monday, October 20, 2025.
Eric was born in June 1981 in Lancaster, CA, to John Edmonds (Shelley) Buckeye, AZ and Rosie Thompson (Addison) Santa Barbara, CA. In addition to his parents, he leaves behind his brother, David Edmonds; sister, Heather Edmonds; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. As a great animal lover, he also leaves behind his four dogs: Chief, Sasha, Frick, and Daisy.
Eric had a tremendous circle of friends that were an extension of his family and thought of them as brothers and sisters. He was “Uncle Eric” to many of his friends’ children and was the life of the party while serving as the grill master barbequing at get togethers both big and small.
He attended grade schools in Mojave, Lancaster and Rosamond, CA while living in the Antelope Valley his entire life. While in his teens, he loved off-roading and raising animals for the Antelope Valley Fair.
After high school graduation, he attended Bakersfield College completing courses towards Civil Engineering along with an apprenticeship program that led to a career in the construction industry with various prestigious firms in Southern California, culminating as a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers.
Eric loved life itself and loved his family and friends. He will be missed by so many. His home was always open and inviting and he prioritized assisting those in need and he was always there to lend a helping hand. Anybody that spent time with him quickly realized he turned any outing into an adventure, whether camping and fishing, a weekend getaway to the lake, a road trip to acquire car parts, or simply a trip to the local hardware store.
As a seasoned mechanic, his primary hobby was wrenching on vehicles and bringing old cars and trucks, tractors, and motorcycles back to life with the help of his friends. His final project was overhauling his parents original 1975 GMC Jimmy after it had been left idle for several decades. He beamed with pride showing it off to family and friends in his final months.
Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary in Lancaster, CA is handling all the services. Rosary, mass and graveside services will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8th at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church located at 15382 Myer Road Mojave, CA. He will be interned at East Kern Cemetery in Mojave followed by a reception at Saint Francis Catholic Church Reception Hall for family and friends.
Eric’s family would like to thank the doctors and staff at City of Hope and his friends who helped him get to his cancer treatments and tend to his medical needs. Eric was very appreciative and his family is very grateful that he had such compassionate friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to City of Hope Cancer Center in Duarte, California.
