Gene Dymowski was an outstanding aircraft crew chief for the NASA Flight Research Center (now named after Neil Armstrong) on several important flight programs. He devoted his entire career to the United States government with both military and NASA service. He contributed significantly to the aerospace preeminence of the USA. 

Gene was the crew chief for the NASA Lockheed JetStar which was heavily modified (by Calspan) to become the first 'model-following' airborne simulator.  It was used to carry out research in handling qualities, flight controls technology, and aircraft design. This airborne simulator concept was used years later on the NASA Gulfstream Shuttle Training Aircraft, which prepared every orbiter astronaut crew for the approach and landing task.

Gene was an extremely thorough mechanic. In one of his intense inspections of the JetStar, he discovered a very fine crack in the left wing spar. It was repaired. I am especially  thankful  because I flew on the aircraft as a flight test engineer! As crew chief, he delivered a 100% airworthy aircraft to the flight crew every time.

Gene was my mentor in all areas related to flight operations, as a new engineer from the University of Wisconsin, having never even touched a jet aircraft. I saw him as a role model for total commitment, honesty, integrity, teamwork, and a positive attitude  that was catching.  

Gene was one of the pillars of the team of exceptional mechanics and technicians that enabled the Flight Research Center to fly complex one-of-a-kind experimental aircraft routinely and safely.  I salute Gene, and all past and present ground crews, whose skill and devotion was an essential part of the Center's success. 

Gene was also devoted to his family, whose testimonies bear witness to his care for them. He and Helen were pleased to celebrate their 69th wedding anniversary.

May God care for his family and comfort them with peace and hope.

I will always remember them also as my neighbors every Halloween we would go up to the door and Gene will always answer the door and say what are you suppose to be dressed up as and Helen would laugh and say honey they are cowboys and Indians and Gene will also be remembered by having the green yard all of us neighbors were jealous on how green his yard was also I will always remember for his dedication on having Helen and his Yard Sales RIP Gene you will be missed by all who knew you  now you are up their with my mom Love to Helen and all the family 

Gene and Helen have been our neighbors for 31 years 
I will remember Gene's smile and  his dedication of taking care of his lawn over the years. It was a pleasure to talk with him.

Uncle Gene was more energetic then most people half his age. He always drove his cars fast, wasn't afraid to speak his mind and was not only smart, but very interesting to talk to. I'm one of his nephews and my only regret regarding him, was that he and Aunt Helen didn't live closer to us when we were kids and that I didn't get out to California to see him and Aunt Helen, more often, tough I wanted to.
His work history is a whole story in itself.
He was the Patriarch of the family.  Even after so many years of having left Brooklyn, NY, he never lost that Brooklyn charm and  edge to his attitude. I really liked that about him. He always kept himself busy and would do his best not to let his age slow him down. I hope he is in a better place and at peace. I'm sure we will see each other again at some point uncle.
