Floyd Thomas Lorentz, born July 6, 1921 in Alvord, Texas, passed away Tuesday, July 21 in Boise, Idaho. He grew up in Oklahoma, attended Terral High School, and worked on the family farm. He later attended Wichita Engineering School of Aviation in Texas. In 1942 he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force. He worked as a mechanic on B-25 and B-26 bombers during the war, and was discharged in 1945. He started working for Boeing Company in Kansas, transferred to Boeing in Seattle, and retired after 21 years. He later worked ten years for Rockwell on B-1 bombers and the Space Shuttle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady Lorentz and Nettie Cook Lorentz, brothers William Otis, Lloyd Alton, Elgin G. and J. W. Lorentz, and sister Oneta Opal Lorentz, wife, Bernice Lorentz and son, Bruce Lorentz. He is survived by his son, Tom Lorentz (Linda), and grandchildren Jason Lorentz (Heather) and Nathan Lorentz (Lucy), and great grandchildren Logan, Tyler, Fiona and Byron Lorentz.
