Iesha Lanay Massey, age 42, was born on September 18, 1983, in Los Angeles, California, and passed away on November 19. Though her time here was far too short, the impact she made was immeasurable. Iesha lived her life with a strength that did not always announce itself loudly, but instead showed up every single day through love, sacrifice, and an unbreakable devotion to her children. She brought life into the world three times in California. Welcoming her first child in Sacramento on June 11, 2004, and later giving birth to her younger two in Lancaster on June 23, 2008, and November 4, 2010. Each moment marking another reason she chose to keep going, no matter how heavy life became.
Above all else, Iesha was a mother. A fiercely protective, deeply loving, and endlessly giving one. She raised her children with her whole heart, often on her own, even when circumstances were unfair and overwhelming. Though her eldest son, Jaron Myrick, had to leave at a young age due to a disagreement, her love for him never faded. She continued to pour everything she had into raising Neveha Massey and Devin Davidson, making sure they were safe, fed, and loved, even when the world made that incredibly hard. She carried the weight of not only raising children, but also healing her own inner child, and she did so with grace that many never saw but her children felt every day. She shared a special bond with her beloved Granny Pat, who preceded her in death, and whose love and presence helped shape the woman Iesha became.
Iesha had a smile that could heal. One that could cut through the darkest moments and remind you that hope still existed. She loved music. It was always playing, always surrounding her, and it followed her wherever she went. When life felt especially heavy, she found comfort in laughter, often watching "The Amazing World of Gumball", letting herself feel joy even when joy felt undeserved. She took pride in keeping a clean home, but more than that, she took pride in creating a space where her children could feel secure. Even in moments of financial struggle, there was always food on the table, because she refused to let her children feel the absence of care.
What Iesha was most proud of, more than anything, were her children. Not their grades, not their mistakes, but who they were becoming. She believed in them deeply, often before they could believe in themselves. She had an almost unexplainable way of knowing what they needed, even when they couldn’t find the words to ask. She reminded them constantly that even when they felt alone, they never truly were because she was always there, in ways both seen and unseen.
Iesha Lanay Massey will be remembered for her radiant smile, her relentless work ethic, her unconditional love, and the quiet strength it took to raise her children with devotion and heart. Her legacy lives on through Jaron, Neveha, and Devin. Through the love she gave, the protection she offered, and the example she set. Though her absence leaves an ache that words cannot fix, her presence will forever be felt in the lives she shaped and the hearts she healed.
A service honoring the life of Iesha Lanay Massey will be held on January 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at Joshua Memorial.
